The Red Rose Box – Valentine’s Day Basics

the red rose box

Now that Valentine's day is done, I feel like venting. I don’t understand this sudden rise in posts talking about “unique” valentine’s day gifts. It’s valentine’s day for god sake people… literally everyone knows Valentine's day is about roses, chocolates & wine. So why move away from this stereotype?

Some argue that being unique makes more of a statement. I agree, however, not in situations like this. People may act like they don’t care for traditions but believe me when I say, they do. Let me give you an example.

I’ve been with my girl for 3 years now. The first valentines I did nothing special… just a dinner. She was happy but not impressed. Next year I decided to up the game. This time however I chose to gift her a clutch because I read some silly article about “unique gifts”. She was happy & thankful, but I could tell something about this gift was amiss. I don’t know how but I just could…guess I know her really well. Anyway, next year I got lazy and literally just placed an order for a red rose box on an online rose store. I only saw the images and it looked quite stunning, so I went with it. I liked it… I really did, but I was sure it wouldn’t do the job any better than that clutch. But my god, I have never seen her look so pink! It’s like she turned into a teenage girl who just found out her crush likes her too!

So, this is when I realized it’s better to stick to tradition and keep it simple. You know what they say, “There is beauty in simplicity”.
